Card scanning

Card scanning software for card shops

Manual inventory intake is the single biggest staff-hour sink at a card shop. Storefront Pro's card-scanning software lets staff point a phone camera at a card, identify set / rarity / condition, and push it straight to inventory or a buylist submission — in seconds, not minutes.

  • Point-and-scan intake from a phone or tablet
  • Auto-identifies card, set, language, and edition
  • Condition grading with a single tap
  • Direct push to inventory or buylist
  • Works with MTG, Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, One Piece, Lorcana
  • No dedicated hardware required

How it works

From binder to SKU in under 10 seconds

Every card a staff member types into an inventory form by hand is a card they aren't selling. Card scanning turns the slowest part of running a card shop into the fastest.

Camera recognition

Works on any modern phone or tablet. No dedicated scanner, no proprietary hardware.

Set and edition detection

Identifies reprints, alternate arts, and promotional treatments automatically.

Condition grading

Staff picks NM / LP / MP / HP / DMG with a single tap. Defaults stick per session.

Buylist intake flow

Customers can scan their own cards into a buylist submission from their phone.

Bulk scanning mode

Scan a stack of cards continuously — hold the camera over each card briefly and move on.

Pricing auto-applied

Scanned cards get market-data pricing applied immediately via autopricing rules.

Recognition architecture

Why one recognition engine is not enough

Catalogue matching, messy real-world photos, and reference-image checks are different problems. The technical guide explains how the engines are routed and where staff confirmation remains necessary.

Connect scanning to buylist intake

Recognition becomes useful when the identified card flows into condition grading, an offer, staff approval, and inventory without re-entry.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What phones and tablets are supported?
Any modern iOS or Android device. No dedicated hardware required.
How accurate is the recognition?
Very accurate for modern sets. Older or heavily played cards may require manual confirmation — the UI surfaces candidates and staff taps the correct match.
Can customers scan their own cards for buylist?
Yes. Customer-facing buylist includes a camera intake flow from their phone.
Does it work offline?
Recognition requires network access. Staff devices on a shop Wi-Fi will work fine.
